Job description
The PhD candidates will be employed at the Research Centre for Education and the
Labour Market (ROA), a research institute of the School of Business and
Economics at Maastricht University. ROA’s research program focuses on the
fields of labour economics and education economics. ROA's research efforts
intend to make a significant contribution to both academic and societal
discussions on the effects of knowledge and skills acquired in education and in
other learning situations on occupational careers, performance within
organizations and the development of the economy.
ROA offers PhD’s unique research opportunities by its involvement in the
international adult literacy survey PIAAC, the international graduate surveys
REFLEX and HEGESCO, ROA’s Life-long Learning survey and a linked
employer-employee panel in the Dutch public sector ROA also has in-house access
to many Dutch administrative data sets provided by Statistics Netherlands. ROA
currently has 2 PhD positions on offer.
Requirements
In order to qualify for a PhD position the candidate must have successfully
completed a Research Master degree or is expected to complete such a degree
within the next 6 months. Research Master degrees can be obtained in Economics,
Econometrics, Sociology or a related area. The job candidate should have
excellent research and statistical skills. The working language is English.

Maastricht University, Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market
Maastricht University (UM) is the youngest university in the Netherlands, is

characterized by a multidisciplinary and thematic approach, and is concentrated

ROA is a research institute of the School of Business and Economics of
Maastricht University.

Salary scale: PhD (Dutch University Salary Scales)
Employment basis: Temporary for specified period
