All,

Please forgive the cross posting.

I am looking for state trial court data. In particular, I seek the monthly count of new complaints and dismissals in civil cases from around 2005 - 2012. Ideally, they would be disaggregated by area of law (contracts, torts, real property, etc).

Having done state-level work in the past, I am doubtful that this data exists for all 50 states. But if any of you know of states that keep good data on this, I'd be happy to hear of them. I know that yearly data on new filings exists at the Court Statistics Project, but that is not fine-grained enough for my purposes. The only states I've looked at in any detail lump MTD dismissals into residual categories, which doesn't help me.

Obviously, if anyone has already collected the data, I'd love to access it.

Thanks so much for any tips you have. Off-list replies are fine.

Best,

Abby
