Colleagues,
I have a undergraduate thesis (senior) student who has been conducting
research into conservative Christian grassroots movements. She is in
the middle of a mail survey of donors to groups advocating for a ballot
measure which has been going quite well (two weeks after mailing, her
response rate is well above 20%).
She is now getting ready to conduct interviews with some of the interest
group leaders. She has encountered initial resistance, I suspect
partially because of the reputation of Reed, but also because some of
the survey respondents have apparently contacted the group leadership
and warned them about the survey. Even though she conducted the groups
ahead of time, some apparently believe she is flying below the radar or
is working for some other advocacy group. (The survey sample was drawn
from a publicly available donor list.)
I am looking for someone who might correspond briefly with my student
over email and who has conducted elite interviews, or perhaps some
literature citations beyond the standard "read Fenno on establishing
rapport and trust". Her first interview is this Friday.
Thanks,
Paul Gronke
