I am pleased to report that for this, the first John Williams Award given
by the Society, the committee (Pat Brandt, Burt Monroe, with Virginia Gray
and John Aldrich as co-chairs) have chosen to recommend that the award go
to Roman Ivanchenko of Ohio State University.
The John Williams Award is for the best dissertation proposal.
Ivanchenko's proposal is entitled, "Interactions Between the Supreme Court
and Congress: A Different Look at the Decision-Making Process." His
dissertation committee is chaired by Prof. Lawrence Baum. Our
congratulations to both of them.
We believe the proposal reflects well the standards that John Williams
impressed upon his students, and we are pleased to honor both Roman
Ivanchenko and John Williams with this award.
