Hi all,

The AidData research lab at William & Mary is searching for a Junior Data
Analyst to join the Research & Evaluation Unit. I've been in the role the
past three years, and I recommend applying for any graduating seniors who
would like to do quantitative methods-based research for a couple years
before applying to social science Ph.D. programs, especially those with an
interest in GIS methods and/or international development.

Please pass this along to students you think may be interested. Full job
posting below.

Thanks,

Christian Baehr

Junior Data Analyst

The Junior Data Analyst in AidData’s Research and Evaluation Unit assists
in data gathering, joining and analysis for Geospatial Impact Evaluations
and other research projects. The JDA obtains and/or compiles survey,
geospatial, satellite, or other data types, and cleans and processes these
data prior to analysis. In some cases, the JDA oversees a team of student
Research Assistants who geocode the necessary data, including supervising
their work and resulting data quality. The JDA consults with Principal
Investigators or other senior staff on the empirical designs and analytical
methods for causal identification, implementing these with some support and
oversight. Where these methods involve big data, the JDA may need to
perform this analysis on the high performance computing cluster (HPC) at
W&M. The JDA may also conduct qualitative or contextual research to
interpret data or findings and place them in context. The JDA plays a
supporting role in preparing reports and papers for publication, and in
some cases may be a named author on publications.
