PLEASE FORWARD THIS ANNOUNCEMENT
*PSQ** Call for Papers: *
*Symposium on Big Data in Political Science and Policy Research *
*Political Science* *Quarterly* (*PSQ*) invites the submission of
manuscripts for a symposium on “Big Data: Its Use by and Impact on
Political Science and Policy Research.” Accepted manuscripts will be
published in forthcoming issues of *PSQ* either individually or as part of
a series depending on the number of submissions.
We are in a new age of modern data. Since the creation of the internet and
other technological developments the amount of data made available to
members of the academic community and to the general public has grown
exponentially. Ninety percent of the data that exists today was created in
the last two years. It is important for the scholarly community to take
avail of these new data and data analysis methods to enhance research
opportunities and knowledge for researchers and students. Our intention
with this call for papers is to shed light on how these big data advance
political science and/or public policy research. We welcome manuscript
that: 1) address directly political science, public policy and big data;
and/or 2) make use of big data (in all subfields of political science,
public policy, and policy studies).
Submitted manuscripts must meet the journal’s criteria and will undergo
peer review. Those accepted will be published in upcoming issues of *PSQ*.
Submissions should be made through the regular online submission process
for the journal at www.psqonline.org. Authors are encouraged to consult the
journal’s submission guidelines also available at www.psqonline.org.
Authors must indicate—on their cover page—that their submission is part of
this special call for papers. Submissions will be considered immediately
and will continue until *March 31st, 2019.*
Published continuously since 1886, *PSQ* has been the most widely read and
accessible scholarly journal on government, politics, and public policy.
Broad in its subject matter and dedicated to objective analysis based on
evidence, *PSQ* examines both domestic and international issues. It has no
ideological or methodological slant and is edited to be accessible not only
to scholars but also to general readers who have a serious interest in
public and foreign affairs.
