Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management 
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Assistant Professor (International Relations) 

The Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management at Bocconi University is inviting applications for a full-time, tenure-track international relations position at the rank of assistant professor beginning September 2018. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality empirical research on international relations and especially those with a research agenda that demonstrates a substantial, on-going interest in international organizations. 

Applicants must have a Ph.D. by September 1, 2018. Applicants should have a trajectory that suggests a tenurable research record is likely. 

Bocconi University is a leading institution for economics, management and related disciplines in Europe, and it is currently expanding in the areas of political and social sciences. As part of this development, the Department has a major role in staffing a Bachelor in Government (BIG), a Master in Government and International Organizations (GIO) and, from 2018, a Master in Politics and Public Policy. Public Management is a major field in the Ph.D. Program in Public Policy and Administration, launched in 2014. 

Bocconi provides an ideal interdisciplinary research environment. The Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management combines faculty from several social sciences (public administration, political science, sociology, economics, history, public health, demography), who shares an interest policy-relevant research, from analysis and design to implementation and management. The Department counts 60 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. 

The successful candidate is expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level, which may include also SDA-Bocconi School of Management Executive Master in International Organizations (EMMIO). The excellent terms of employment are competitive. Bocconi University is located in Italy’s most vibrant centre, Milan, a historical and cosmopolitan city in a metro area of 3 million and well connected to the rest of Europe. 

Applications are due by January 7th, 2018. Review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Campus visits will be scheduled accordingly. 

Knowledge of Italian is not required. Responsibilities include teaching and productivity in research. Applicants should have – or be close to completing – a PhD and will have demonstrated strong potential in research.

a. A scientific curriculum; 
b. Titles, publications and documents which the candidates intend to submit for this evaluation; 
c. The name of at least two highly qualified academic referees

To complete the online process and be considered for the position, applicants will have to include at least two letters of recommendation. The letters should be sent by the referees no later than January 15th 2018.
