Save the date / Information for Poster Presentation Applicants
Dear Colleagues,
As one of the organizers of the fifth annual APSA Political Psychology pre-conference, I am writing to encourage you to save the dateāand join us.
The Political Psychology pre-conference will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, the day before the start of APSA, at Georgetown University.
We are planning on a slate with several speakers from psychology and political science. Already, confirmed speakers include Betsy Levy-Paluck (Princeton University, Psychology & Public Affairs), Brian Nosek (University of Virginia, Psychology), and Ismail White (Duke University, Political Science). There will also be a campaign-themed roundtable at the intersection of academic and practical research with Claudia Deane (Pew Research Center), Alex Lundry (Deep Root Analytics), Gary Segura (UCLA, Luskin School of Public Affairs), LaFleur Stephens-Dougan (Princeton University, Political Science), Aaron Strauss (Analyst Institute), and Lynn Vavreck (UCLA, Political Science).
The conference website is available here and will be updated periodically: https://connect.apsanet.org/s28/conferences/. We will circulate a formal invitation to the pre-conference in the months to come; if you wish to attend the conference, this note simply serves as a save-the-date.
Interested in presenting a poster?
If you are a graduate student, post-doc, or faculty member considering presenting a poster at the pre-conference, here are additional details. We will have two poster sessions during the course of the pre-conference. Each poster will be assigned a discussant, who will provide feedback to the author(s). These sessions will be scheduled with no concurrent events, with the hopes that poster presenters will have some good opportunities to get feedback on their projects from multiple pre-conference attendees.
To propose a poster to present at the pre-conference (and to apply for one of the limited number of $200 scholarships we hope to award to graduate students (funds permitting) to help defray the costs of presenting a poster at the pre-conference), please complete the brief application form here:
https://sasupenn.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1LCV7JdVmk549Vz
The deadline for submissions for the poster session is May 21, 2019.
We plan to make decisions on poster acceptances by June 1.
In the event that we receive way more applications than we can accept, please note that preference will be given to members of the APSA Political Psychology section.Registration fees for presenters and attendees will be announced later but will be kept at a reasonable level.
Please feel free to be in contact if you have any questions--and thanks to our Georgetown hosts, especially Jon Ladd.
