Colleagues,
I am writing my dissertation on the impact of multicultural policies on the
political participation of women from minority cultures (indigenous,
immigrant, and national minority groups). I've found some data for each
concept, but the samples are very small and I've been unable to find data
on both the independent and dependent variables for the same sample of
state-years.
For the Independent Variable (broadly, multicultural policy), I am
particularly interested in whether states guarantee minority groups
consultation rights, allow for customary/traditional law, or allow
culturally-specific education.
For the dependent variable (broadly, women's political participation), I am
in need of data that can be dis-aggregated by both gender and immigrant,
indigenous, or national/cultural/religious minority status. I'm interested
in anything from rates of organizational membership to percentage of
elected government positions held.
Any suggestions for locating this data would be greatly appreciated!
Many Thanks,
