The Department of Political Science at the University of Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a focus in Geography and Politics. The Department of Political Science at the University of Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a focus in Geography and Politics. Applicants should be conducting research that seeks to understand the ways in which spatial relationships such as geography influence political outcomes or shape the decisions of political actors, including but not limited to individuals, groups, states, and countries. We seek candidates interested in addressing important theoretical questions or debates in Political Science. Applicants should be proficient in geographic information systems or spatial statistics. The Department welcomes applications from candidates in any subfield, particularly those with strong mathematical, statistical, or computational modeling skills. Candidates should clearly describe their research and teaching interests in their letter of application. The position will begin in August 2014, and the appointment requires that a Ph.D. be received by August 1, 2014. The review of applicants will begin September 15, 2013 and will continue until the position is filled.
