Opportunity of Postdoc Fellowships in Social Science at the Center for Metropolitan Studies (CEM / Cepid) - April, 2nd/2015

The <http://cepid.fapesp.br/en/centro/14/>  Center for Metropolitan Studies (CEM) is a Research, Innovation and Diffusion (RIDC) with support from FAPESP. It is an institution for advanced research in social science that investigates social inequalities and the formulation of public policies. It consists of a multidisciplinary group, which includes demographic researchers, political scientists, sociologists, geographers and anthropologists, whose research agenda is focused on citizens’ access to well-being. The CEM researchers work in several fields of knowledge and apply distinct methodologies in their investigations.

Postdoctoral Fellows (PD) shall conduct theoretical and/or empirical research, in addition to other regular activities, such as participation in seminars, paper writing and the dissemination of research results. The postdoctoral fellowships are expected to develop projects in one of the following themes:

 <http://www.fflch.usp.br/centrodametropole/en/1121> 2. To understand the role of political institutions on the decision-making of redistributive policies, particularly voting behavior and law-making process.

 <http://www.fflch.usp.br/centrodametropole/en/1122> 3. To map alternative forms of governance in urban areas and their connections to the State in order to understand "who governs what”?

 

FELLOWSHIPS

The opportunity is open to Brazilian and foreign candidates. It is desirable to have a PhD in Social Sciences or related fields with a strong history of publishing and good performance in spoken and written English.

The selected candidate will receive a monthly fellowship in the amount of R$ 6,143.40 and a grant, equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.

The fellowship also include a setup support for researchers who need to move to the city of São Paulo, Brazil, the institution´s headquarter. More information about the fellowship can be found in the following link:  <http://www.fapesp.br/en/5427> www.fapesp.br/en/5427.

A maximum of three (3) Post-doctoral fellowships will be selected.

 

DOCUMENTATION FOR APLLICATION

1. Full CV Lattes ( <http://www.lattes.cnpq.br> www.lattes.cnpq.br) or Curriculum Vitae, if foreign;

2. MyResearcherID e/ou MyCitation (Google Scholar);

3. List of publications;

4. Research project, which should not display the identification of the candidate at any point, since the project evaluation will be blind.

 

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection of candidates will be conducted in two stages. In the first, the curriculum, publications, and the academic trajectory of the candidate will be examined as well as the scientific quality of the proposal along with its adherence to the research lines of the CEM. The second phase will be an interview with the selection committee, when the academic merits of the proposals and candidate performance will be considered.

Candidates selected for the second phase will be contacted via email by June, 16th.

Interviews will be conducted in person or via skype on the 24th June, 2015.
