This position may be of interest to some members of the list. The goal of
the newly formed department is to be cross-disciplinary with real ties to
multiple departments in the university.

The newly formed Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and
Statistics (ACMS) will initialize a group in statistics with a search for
three statistics faculty. The University of Notre Dame has approved
positions at the tenured and tenure-track level. Applications in any area of
statistics are invited.

The Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics was
formed in 2010 within Notre Dame’s College of Science. The founding members,
who transferred from the Department of Mathematics, have research activities
in mathematical biology, scientific computing, numerical analysis, and
statistical bioinformatics.

The successful applicant must have a doctorate in statistics, biostatistics
or a closely related field, and a record of success in both research and
teaching. The teaching load in ACMS is 3 courses per year. The positions
begin in August 2011. The evaluation of associate professor candidates will
begin immediately. The evaluation of assistant professor candidates will
begin December 1, 2010.

Applications, including a curriculum vitae and a completed AMS standard
cover sheet, should be filed through MathJobs
(www.MathJobs.org<http://www.mathjobs.org/>).
Applicants should also arrange for at least three letters of recommendation
to be submitted through the MathJobs system. These letters should address
the applicant's research accomplishments and supply evidence that the
applicant has the ability to communicate articulately and teach effectively.
For additional information about the position or ACMS, please contact the
Department Chair, Steven Buechler, at [log in to unmask]

Notre Dame is an equal opportunity employer, and we particularly welcome
applications from women and minority candidates.
