Dear POLMETH

Apologies for re-/cross-posting. We decided to delay the first round
of reviews for the below cited post-doc position. Any interested
party now has until May 31 to submit their application. Please note
that while we prefer a September 1 2011 start date, our grant allows
for any start date before December 2012. Applicants who can only
start after September 1, 2011 will still receive close consideration.

Please pass on the call to people who could be interested in the position.

Thanks

L

The Center for Network Science in collaboration with the Department of
Political Science at the Central European University (CEU), in
Budapest, Hungary are advertising a two-year political networks
post-doctoral position. We have a strong preference for someone to
start in the fall of 2011 but will consider applications of candidates
who can only start at a later date. (Inability to start by September 1
should be clearly noted in the application package.)

The candidate is expected to have a PhD or have defended their
dissertation by the beginning of the position. Successful applicant
should have an elaborate research agenda with a focus on network
analysis in the political context (such as, but not limited to,
politicized business networks, policy networks, legislative networks,
social movements, power relationships, political communication flows,
international networks of countries or non-governmental organizations,
or politically important infrastructure networks). The candidate will
have the option to use datasets available at the center, for example
data on business networks, international trade, or energy delivery
infrastructures. In addition to academic research the candidate will
be responsible for setting up a website/blog on political network
analysis that targets non-academic audience, on issues of political
corruption, social movement networks, elite change, political activism
online. Finally, the candidate will be responsible for writing grant
applications together with relevant faculty.

The two-year position is created within the framework of the “CEU 20th
Anniversary Postdoctoral Fellowships” to commemorate 20 years of
academic activity at CEU. The successful candidate will receive a
competitive stipend, will be eligible for a health plan and will have
access to the same research and academic travel support funds as
faculty.
