Colleagues,
In December, the Center for Spatial Studies at UCSB hosted a meeting on
Future Directions in Spatial Demography co-sponsored by UCSB, Penn State,
and the NIH. Mike Goodchild, Stephen Matthews, and Don Janelle, the
organizers of the meeting, have asked the participants to send along
information about the meeting's final report to our various disciplines. I
know that the organizers are interested in building bridges to political
science, and the report includes information that will be of interest to
scholars in our discipline. Among the topics covered in the report are
software for spatial analysis, new data sources, various websites, and
discussions about emerging concerns in spatial demography. Several
Directors and representatives from Population Centers also attended the
meeting and some of the material in the report will also be of interest to
political scientists affiliated with their institutions' Population
Centers. The final report can be found at this link:

Best,
Dave
