YouGov is seeking three or more technically sophisticated persons for its Analytics Group, based in Palo Alto. We are looking for people who combine knowledge of applied statistics or econometrics with strong computational skills (especially R, Python and SQL). Work in a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment where technically sophisticated solutions to marketing, financial, and political problems are developed.

SENIOR ANALYST

Primary responsibilities include statistical modeling, computation, and design and execution of internal and external research projects. The analyst will assist and provide advice to the operations and research groups, as well as having primary responsibility (from design to scripting to analysis to report writing) for specific projects.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

   -- Ph.D. in statistics or social science

   -- Knowledge of applied statistics and econometrics is essential.

   -- Familiarity with some or all of discrete choice models, panel data, measurement error, missing data, hierarchical Bayes, survey sampling, factor analysis, structural equation models, experimental design, and data mining very useful

   -- Background in statistical computing, using software such as R, Stata, and WinBugs/JAGS.

   -- Programming with C/C++, Python, SQL, etc. is a plus.

   -- Ability to learn new software and techniques.

   -- Commitment and attention to detail and accuracy


PROJECT DIRECTOR

Responsibilities include management of internal and external research projects, as well as primary responsibility (from design to scripting to analysis to report writing) for execution of specific projects. Successful directors will provide a single point of accountability to deliver the project in accordance with the project commitments, manage and direct assigned project resources and make decisions regarding the project direction.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

 -- Ph.D. in social science or marketing or an equivalent field preferred.  Candidates with a Master's or Bachelor's degree in those fields with substantial professional and/or academic experience are welcomed.

   -- Ability to drive analytics projects from hypothesis generation through data-gathering to completion

   -- Proven project management experience (in either an academic or commercial setting)

   -- Very strong written and oral communication skills

   -- Commitment and attention to detail and accuracy

   -- Strong computer skills with an ability to learn new software and techniques; experience using R or Stata.

   -- Knowledge of and experience with survey methodology and techniques


STATISTICAL PROGRAMMER

We are seeking one or more programmers for our Analytics Group, based in Palo Alto. We are looking for people who combine strong programming skills with experience performing statistical analyses on large datasets. Work in a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment where technically sophisticated solutions to marketing, financial, and political problems are developed.

You will be involved in large scale statistical analysis projects. Responsibilities will include the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software for statistical analysis, including statistical graphics and Web-based deliver. These require creativity and ingenuity to solve.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

   -- Minimum of 5 years programming experience in Python and other languages, and you're always eager to try new ones. Good design and engineering skills.

   -- B.S. in computer science, statistics, or other relevant scientific area. We care more about your programming skills than your schooling.

        -- Experience with statistical applications (especially R).

        -- Knowledge of modern statistical computing, especially MCMC.

        -- Expert with Linux/Unix systems and XHTML/CSS/Javascript/Django

        -- Database expertise, programming with SQL, Hadoop

        -- Experience with source code control tools such as Git and Subversion
