Hi Lindsay,

Several options are available. STATA has a manual on multilevel models in
STATA (Rabe-Hesketh, S., and A. Skrondal. (2005). Multilevel and
Longitudinal Modeling Using Stata. College Station, TX: Stata Press.) The
main command is 'xtmixed'.

There's also an 'hlm' package you can install.

Cheers,

Irfan

Subject: [POLMETH] Question regarding hierarchical linear model or
multilevel regression

Hello,

I wondered whether anyone who can point me in the direction of a Stata
topic/command for estimating a hierarchical linear model or multilevel
regression.

It seems like Greene (Econometric Analysis) does not treat this subject,
and, my version of Stata of Stata doesn't seem to turn up any commands when
I search. I have a few papers which use these models, but am not sure how
to estimate one with my own data.

Thank you very much for your input.

Best, Lindsay
